We're expanding our team and looking for a FLOAT technician to support our clinics located across Pinellas County and Pasco County.
At Sight360, we are building the region’s premier destination for comprehensive vision care. We are a team of over 130 optometrists, ophthalmologists, surgeons, opticians, and eye care professionals serving more than 100,000 patients across 15 different locations in the Greater Tampa Bay area. From routine eye exams and optical retail, to medical optometry, ophthalmology, and surgical procedures, our patients experience end-to-end personalized care and service.
Hiring bonus is paid over 10 pay periods and requires the candidate to remain employed by the company for 6 months in order to retain the bonus.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and skills. Candidates will be subject to an onsite skills assessment prior to being made an offer of employment. Compensation rate is higher for COA's, COT's or similar certifications. Proof of current certification is required.
Candidate must be available to work Saturdays (9 a.m. - 2 p.m.)
Requirements
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for collecting and recording ocular and systemic patient histories, visual acuities, BP, IOP, Auto refractions, Manifest Refractions, performing external examinations, and dry-eye testing, as well as disease specific extra testing.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Collecting and recording patient medical history
- Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations.
- Performing visual acuity testing, auto and Manifest Refractions (measurements for the glasses prescription), tonometry (measuring eye pressure) (Goldmann required)
- Measuring pupil size and reactivity using PERRLA
- Testing elements of movement (eye muscle function)
- Performing confrontational visual field testing, pachymetry (Corneal thickness measurement)
- Performing dry eye testing including Zone Quick and TBUT, Interferometry, brightness acuity testing
- Participating in light cleaning of the facility
- Maintaining a sanitized environment
- Performing corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurements, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasonography
- Assisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal of contacts.
- Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures including consenting patients
- Assisting with Lasers or minor procedures
Travel:
Candidate will be expected to provide their own transportation and travel to various Pinellas & Pasco locations to support coverage.
Qualifications:
- Required: Must be able to work Saturdays
- Minimum of one year in Ophthalmology
- Preferred Certification
- Associates Degree - preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Superior interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to perform manifest refraction is required
- Ability to perform Goldmann tonometry is required.
- Ability to effectively multitask
- Attentive to detail and accuracy.
