The Occupational Therapist position reports to the Location Lead unless otherwise directed.
Expectations:
- Perform patient care and related activities in accordance with best practice/evidence-based practice guidelines, while following an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation/reassessment findings according to clinical guidelines
- Completes patient evaluations and reassessments in accordance with clinical, insurance and practice guidelines
- Communicates effectively with patient/family/therapists/physicians and other health care professionals to promote quality patient care
- Performs patient care and related activities within the scope of their training and responsibilities, demonstrating basic clinical competencies
- Provides instruction/education to patients and families/caregivers with accurate and thorough information consistently to patients and families concerning their participation in the continuity of care
- Assesses patient and family needs regarding their level of understanding, ability to assimilate information and the most desirable method of teaching
- Have a working knowledge about Sensory Integration, Visual Training, Sensory Feeding Therapy, Handwriting, Fine Motor, and Reflexes
- Documents patient information in Electronic Medical Record according to office policies and clinic guidelines in timely manner
- Maintains a current awareness and participates in office quality activities
- Participates in staff development and attends health, safety and training in-services and other obligatory activities
- COTA supervision available, if interested
- Performs other essential functions as needed
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy preferred
- Current Texas license to practice as an Occupational Therapist
- Must be articulate, courteous, and supportive in dealing with clinical and administrative colleagues, patients and parents with ability to honor confidentiality
- Two years pediatric clinical experience preferred, although a strong new grad will be considered.
- Will consider a strong COTA
