JOB SUMMARY:
The Emergency Nurse works as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that includes Board Certified ED Physicians, NP’s and PA’s, and ED Tech’s (LPN/EMT-A/B/LNA), with additional support from Critical Care Float RN’s, Peer Recovery coaches, and tele-ED services. The Emergency Nurse provides safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients utilizing the nursing process to triage, provide initial and ongoing assessment, implement nursing interventions, and provide discharge teaching to adult and pediatric patients requiring emergent/urgent or critical care. The Emergency Department sees over 15,000 patients per year and is the perfect for an Emergency Nurse looking for a fast paced, stimulating, and rewarding work environment.
DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE:
The Emergency Department is a Level III facility according to the guidelines of the Accreditation Manual for Hospitals. The 13-bed unit is open 24 hours a day with at least one physician on duty at all times and a roster of on-call physicians and specialists available within thirty minutes. The Emergency Department also provides “safe rooms” specifically designed to care for patients who are experiencing violent behavior or suicidal ideation. The patient population includes patients of all ages, and care provided ranges from definitive treatment of non-urgent, urgent and emergent medical/surgical conditions to stabilization and transport of the critically ill or injured. Birthing Center nursing staff is available for consultation or to assist in the care of neonates, infants and obstetrical patients.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Graduate of accredited RN program. BSN preferred.
EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS:
- Recent Emergency Department/Critical Care Experience preferred
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S):
- Registered Nurse currently licensed by the State of Vermont
- BLS Healthcare Provider status
- ACLS within 3 months of hire
- PALS within 6 months of hire
- TNCC within one year of hire
- CEN, STABLE, and ENPC preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Normal or corrected vision/hearing.
- Lifting and/or moving patients from one point to another.
- Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with patients, families and public experiencing stressful situations.
- Ability to perform keyboarding functions.

The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
