Reports To: Athletic Director

Classification: Seasonal

Job Summary: The Head Coach is responsible to oversee the assigned sports program, which includes its overall level of excellence, its representation within the community, the leadership of the coaching staff, and the physical and spiritual development of players.

Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  1. Responsible for setting the overall program vision and for developing the theme for each season.
  2. Prioritizes the spiritual formation of athletes as a foundational element of the program.
  3. Serves as a Christian role model for athletes.
  4. Responsible for overall coaching strategy, coordination, and daily coaching.
  5. Responsible for leading and coordinating team devotions.
  6. With the Athletic Director, responsible for coach recruitment, hiring, and development.
  7. Responsible for player leadership development.
  8. Manage assistant coach(es).
  9. Continues to pursue growth in skills as a position coach by learning from other coaching staff and attending coaching clinics.
  10. Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director and Athletic department.
  11. Communicates with parents, players and parent volunteers in a Christlike manner.
  12. Coordinates with Sports Information Director to keep social media and volleyball page of the website current.
  13. Actively involved in prospective player development and communication.
  14. Represents Wheaton Academy within in the conference and IHSA in a Christ-like manner. Ensures that all IHSA requirements are met.
  15. Manage all aspects of program operations.
  16. Manage program finances.
  17. Athletic Trainer coordination.
  18. Manage team excursions.
  19. Manage community and school service activities.
  20. Manage college recruiting.
  21. Manage summer camp operations.
  22. Uses requisite technology independently to perform coaching instructional and program operational duties.

Requirements

 The ideal candidate brings prior collegiate playing experience and proven coaching experience. This individual demonstrates strong leadership skills, with a track record of guiding teams or programs toward achieving a shared vision—whether in coaching or other professional contexts.
