About the Role

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare technical specifications for tender, equipment and material procurement and perform technical evaluation of vendor’s bid
  • Perform ship strength calculations and perform ship structural design
  • Perform prediction and assessment of shipboard vibration and cabin noise, underwater radiated noise
  • Prepare and review arrangement / structural drawings, and Bill of Material for Approval, Working and As-Built.
  • Assist in the development of new designs and design concepts.
  • Perform naval architectural design/calculations (Hull form and general arrangement design, Hydrodynamic or stability calculations)
  • Layout design – fire, safety, watertight integrity, escapes, accommodation in accordance with building specification, class/statutory rules
  • Manage and check calculation/ design of external design consultants.
  • Manage and check technical information of external suppliers of equipment and systems and coordinate/cooperate with engineers from other trades in the organization.
  • To check drawings/documents and material list and ensure that they conform to contractual technical specifications, installation control documents, Classification and Statutory Rules/Regulations.
  • Liaise with shipowners and surveyors.
  • To ensure equipment specification, installation control document and interface design specification are properly maintained, disseminated and use for preparation of design activities.
  • Participate in tests and trials, where required.
  • To advise supervisors on work progress/status and shortcomings on technical issues on project under his charge.
  • Keep abreast with Classifications Rules, military and industrial standards relevant to design activities.

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Degree in Naval Architecture/ Marine Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in engineering design in Marine/Offshore/Oil & Gas industry.
  • Good knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules and Regulations.
  • Good knowledge on Naval Architecture / Structural Design
  • Knowledge of Vibration and Noise Analysis will be advantageous
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Aveva Marine or related 3D CAD software knowledge are required.
  • Experience in VAOne, NAPA, CFD software knowledge will be an advantage.

 

 

Other Information:
 

  • Location: Benoi Road (Island-wide transport provided)
  • 5 days work week
  • Working Hours: 7.25am-5pm
