About the Role

Description

The Facilities Associate is responsible for camp property maintenance and repairs/improvement projects assigned by the Property Manager. He or she will support camp visitors, volunteers, and staff as needed. This position is a part-time, year-round position with up to 30 hours per week. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow weekly, monthly and annual checklists of routine maintenance and repairs at camp, as directed by Property Manager. 
  • Perform emergency repairs at camp, as required. 
  • Prepare camp property for guests, including cleaning, inspecting each building for supplies, cleanliness and assuring that all amenities are in working order. 
  • Assist property team, including outside vendors, with maintaining camp property grounds, roads, buildings and adventure courses, 
  • Consistently inspect campgrounds, especially outdoor program and adventure courses, considering safety as number one priority. 
  • Work with Property Manager to coordinate work schedule so that assigned maintenance tasks can be completed without interfering with camp program activities.
  • Manage and maintain supply inventory for assigned camp.
  • Provide support services for camp rentals, programs, events, and summer resident camp including but not limited to trash pick-up, cleaning and building maintenance, parking, luggage handling, moving program equipment, assisting with emergencies, and other needs as directed by Property Manager or Camp Program Manager. 
  • Provide professional, quality customer service to all customers (guests, girl members, volunteers, staff and other community contacts.)
  • Handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Girl Scout mission by representing GSHPA in a positive and professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of council-wide initiatives and/or cross-functional teams to further the mission of GSHPA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in construction trades or maintenance preferred (e.g. carpentry, electric, plumbing, mechanical, etc.).
  • Experience handling hand and power tools and other machinery (e.g. tractors, mowers, weed trimmers, wood splitter, chain saws, etc.) required.
  • Use of sound judgment and critical thinking skills when decision making.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license; access to reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, while taking initiative to improve processes and create efficiency.
  • Clear written and oral communication.
  • Work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages.
  • Pass and maintain required background clearances.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a high volume of work while managing multiple deadlines in a constantly changing work environment.
  • Ability to stay on camp property overnight, as needed.
  • Work a flexible schedule, to include nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license; access to reliable transportation required.
  • Travel throughout the council, as needed.
  • Lift up to 100 pounds
  • Sitting, standing or walking for a moderate period of time is required
  • Traverse rough/ steep terrain for at least on mile, as needed.
