About the Role

Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Design Engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in industrial drafting—particularly for process layouts and mechanical systems in sectors like energy, petrochemicals, or hydrogen.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Develop, update and maintain Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
  • Produce and revise tie-in lists for piping and mechanical systems
  • Derive accurate 2D layout drawings from existing 3D models
  • Prepare detailed isometric and as-built drawings for fabrication and commissioning
  • Manage drawing registers, version control, and documentation updates in line with engineering changes
  • Collaborate closely with process and mechanical engineers to ensure drawing coherence and precision

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 10+ years of drafting experience in process or industrial environments (e.g., oil & gas, chemical plants, electrolyser systems)
  • Essential software skills: Autodesk AutoCAD (2D/3D), Autodesk Plant 3D or Inventor, Microsoft Visio for flow diagrams and engineering layouts
  • Deep understanding of industrial drafting standards, piping symbols, instrumentation notation, and mechanical layout conventions
  • Proven ability to extract 2D deliverables from 3D models with high accuracy and clarity
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows, document control systems, and ISO / ASME drafting standards
  • Additional experience in SolidWorks or AVEVA E3D or Navisworks will be an advantage

Additional Requirements:

  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams involving process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, procurement, and project execution.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with international teams across multiple time zones and cultural backgrounds.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, while delivering to agreed timelines and quality standards.
  • Capable of taking ownership of the drafting work package within larger engineering projects.
  • Skilled in coordinating inputs from various engineering disciplines to produce consistent, integrated drawing packages.
  • Adaptable to different communication styles and work practices in a multicultural setup.
  • Experience supporting project phases from FEED through detailed design to as-built handover in multi-country projects.
