The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that each project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

This role requires a strong technical background in healthcare or complex building projects, combined with proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients throughout all project phases - from design to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the full project lifecycle, from planning and design coordination to construction, commissioning, and client handover.
  • Define project scope, objectives, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with clients, architects, engineers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee and coordinate engineering design, procurement, construction, and site activities to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Monitor progress, cost, and quality performance, identifying and resolving issues that could affect delivery.
  • Implement effective risk management and mitigation strategies to safeguard project objectives.
  • Ensure strict compliance with healthcare construction standards, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
  • Lead and motivate on-site teams and subcontractors, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
  • Manage change orders, claims, and contractual matters in coordination with commercial and legal teams.
  • Maintain transparent communication with clients, providing regular progress reports and managing expectations.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and handover processes to ensure operational readiness of hospital systems and facilities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned across the healthcare projects portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing large-scale building projects, with at least 5 years in healthcare facilities (hospitals, clinics, or laboratories).
  • Proven track record in EPC or design-build project environments.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare-specific building systems, such as MEP, HVAC, medical gases, and infection control zones.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary and multicultural teams in complex environments.
  • Solid knowledge of project management principles, cost control, and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must have fluency in Portuguese & English proficiency.
  • PMP certification or equivalent is an asset.
  • Experience in Angola or Sub-Saharan Africa is highly desirable.
