About the Role

Job Overview

The Process Engineering Intern will support in collecting and analyzing date of key manufacturing parameters focused on improving process efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing product quality. Working closely with the Plant team and cross-functional teams, the intern will gain hands-on experience in a cheese manufacturing facility that produces cheddar cheese, WPC 80 powder and permeate (Lactose) powder. This role offers exposure to real-world engineering challenges and the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects. This is a 10-week internship running from June through August 2026, based at our Adams, NY facility.

Job Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement & Development:
  • Assist in collecting data, analyzing and implementing process changes to enhance efficiency.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of new technologies or equipment
  • Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance:
  • Help troubleshoot process-related issues and identify defects.
  • Assist in quality assurance efforts to meet standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in process audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness
  • Collaboration & Documentation:
  • Work with production, quality control, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Assist in creating technical documentation, such as process flow diagrams and validate mass balances and equipment performance.
  • Participate in safety reviews and risk assessments

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Required Education and Experience

  • Pursuing a Bachlor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.  
  • Possess analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools like Excel. 
  • Have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently and in teams.  
  • Show interest in dairy manufacturing processes, especially Cheese technology.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills for presenting findings.  
  • Exhibit a proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Have strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
  • Year in school: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. 
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA.
  • Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship both now and in the future. 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Pursuing a Master's degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an office setting.
• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
