Deliver Exceptional Care, Build Your Skills — Join Hickory Veterinary Hospital as a General Practice Veterinary Technician

Are you a compassionate, skilled technician with a passion for general practice and patient care? At Hickory Veterinary Primary Care, we’re looking for a Veterinary Technician who is eager to grow their skills in general practice and GP surgery while working in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Our Mission

Rooted in over six decades of veterinary excellence, our mission is to enhance the lives of pets and their families by delivering thoughtful, collaborative, and high-quality care. If you’re passionate about mentorship, communication, and supporting both clients and coworkers, we’d love to connect with you.

Who We Are

Located in Ambler, PA, Hickory Veterinary Primary Care is a multi-service animal hospital offering general practice. We’ve built a culture of respect, mentorship, and growth — and we’re proud to be a trusted part of our community’s pet care journey.

What You’ll Do

As a General Practice Technician, you’ll be supporting doctors in GP appointments and learning GP surgery skills. If you have GP nursing experience, we can train you in surgery — no prior surgical background required (though it’s a plus, especially in dentals).

In this role, you will:

  • Perform outpatient and inpatient care, including triage, diagnostics, treatments, and discharges
  • Assist in GP surgeries such as spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia (training provided if needed)
  • Perform laboratory work, radiographs, medication administration (IV, IM, SQ, oral)
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients
  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient logs (SOAPs)
  • Support surgery prep, instrument care, and post-op monitoring
  • Ensure exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas remain clean and well-stocked

Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position with the following available schedule:

  •  Tuesday and Thursday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and Saturday: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Compensation

  • $18–$24/hr, depending on experience and licensure
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus

What’s In It for You?

At Hickory, we take care of our team like we take care of our patients—with compassion and intention. You'll receive:

  • A supportive culture that fosters mentorship and growth
  • Continuing education and certification reimbursement (Fear Free, RECOVER, etc.)
  • Competitive paid time off & holiday pay
  • Paid volunteer hours
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Employee pet care discounts
  • Uniform allowance
  • Opportunities for career advancement in a multi-service hospital

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • GP nursing experience required (credentialed or non-credentialed technicians welcome)
  • Surgical experience preferred but not required (training provided)
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
  • Passion for patient care and client support
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends

If you're ready to take the next step in your veterinary technician career and want to be part of a hospital where growth, teamwork, and compassion are core values—we want to hear from you!
