About the Role

Job Description

The Assistant Manager will oversee Point of Sales (POS) and Payment Modes operations within Finance. This role ensures accurate transaction processing, compliance with controls, and continuous improvements. The Assistant Manager will lead a small team, resolve operational issues, and partner with both internal stakeholders and external parties (e.g., collecting agents, banks, and payment providers) to drive automation, efficiency, and cost savings, while enhancing customer and business experience.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end POS and payment operations, including validation, reconciliation, settlement, and exception handling.
  • Monitor and strengthen internal controls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Resolve issues across POS systems, payment gateways, and related platforms in collaboration with IS and product owners.
  • Collaborate with external collecting agents, banks, and payment service providers to ensure smooth operations, accurate settlements, and issue resolution.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and cost-saving initiatives to reduce manual work, errors, and transaction costs.
  • Partner with stakeholders such as IS, product owners, finance teams, etc to ensure accurate data flow, resolve issues, and recommend operational efficiencies.
  • Provide insights to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and support digital/technology initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Balance BAU operations with issue resolution and improvement projects, ensuring resources are used effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • 4–6 years of relevant payment, finance operations experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of POS systems, payment modes (e.g., cards, GIRO, PayNow, collecting agents), reconciliations, and controls.
  • Experience in process improvement, automation, or cost optimization projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to propose practical, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple deadlines under pressure, with a growth mindset focused on innovation and efficiency.
