About the role:

As a Principal EHS Specialist, you will work toward developing policies to identify/avoid hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments; investigate accidents and environmental incidents and partner with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence; provide advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to environmental health and safety; maintain relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other partners impacted by the EHS performance of the organization. Responsibilities typically include managing large projects or processes.

 

You will report to the Senior EHS Manager and be located at the Ogden facility.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a technical lead for EHS issues and opportunities, in areas of industrial safety including machine safety, industrial hygiene, hazard communication, rigging and lifting, Material handling, energy control, fall protection and prevention and electrical safety.

  • Provide subject matter expertise, assistance, and support for Health and Safety issues site wide.

  • Conduct exposure assessments for noise, airborne contaminants, and other occupational hazards.

  • Manage IH monitoring programs (e.g., air sampling, noise dosimetry, ventilation assessments).

  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) compliance.

  • Determine scope, assemble, and lead interdisciplinary teams to develop new or improved safety and health standards, documentation, and processes driving the best methods to achieve compliance to Westinghouse's rigorous safety and health expectations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, related technical degree or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a regulatory compliance role.

  • Industrial Hygiene experience working in or managing IH programs (e.g., air sampling, noise dosimetry, ventilation assessments).

  • CSP/CIH or equivalent professional certification(s).

  • Knowledgeable of safety and health regulations and regulatory agency interaction processes.

  • Fulfill responsibilities with a global mindset.

 

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $90,000-$112,500 per year.
