Position Overview:

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health, safety, and environmental programs across all DMA Industries, LLC Distribution Centers (DCs). This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations while fostering a safety-first culture through training, inspections, and proactive risk management. The HSE Coordinator will travel regularly to multiple company locations to ensure consistency in safety practices, conduct audits, and provide on-site guidance to local teams.


 **This is an on-site position that requires regular weekly travel to each of DMA's facilities. Remote work is not available for this role.**  


Key Responsibilities:

1. Health & Safety Program Oversight:

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, programs, and procedures in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations across all DC locations.
  • Conduct weekly, regular site visits and facility audits to ensure compliance and identify potential risks; recommend and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all OSHA-required logs, safety reports, and inspection documentation for each DC.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on safety issues, providing real-time support to DC management and employees during site visits.

2. Training & Safety Culture Development:

  • Coordinate and conduct safety training for new hires and existing employees at all DCs, covering topics such as PPE use, equipment safety, emergency procedures, and hazard communication.
  • Support the development of safety champions within each DC to assist in promoting and maintaining local safety culture.
  • Distribute regular safety communications, toolbox talks, and best practices to DC teams.

3. Environmental Compliance:

  • Ensure each DC maintains compliance with applicable environmental regulations, including waste management, hazardous materials handling, and air/water quality standards.
  • Maintain environmental permits and documentation and liaise with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Assist in implementing sustainability initiatives and environmental improvements across the DC network.

4. Incident Response & Risk Management:

  • Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist local management with incident documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze safety data across all DCs to identify trends and develop targeted improvement strategies.

5. Emergency Preparedness & Support:

  • Evaluate and enhance emergency response plans at each DC location, ensuring all facilities are equipped and trained for various emergency scenarios.
  • Coordinate drills and emergency equipment inspections at regular intervals.

6. Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain safety dashboards, KPIs, and training records for all sites.
  • Provide regular reports to the Director of HR and senior leadership on HSE performance, key metrics, and identified risks.
  • Ensure consistency and standardization of HSE documentation and protocols across all locations.

7. Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Reporting Structure:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.
  • Works closely with DC management, maintenance, and HR Generalists (HRGs) to implement and sustain HSE initiatives.
  • This position has no direct reports.

  • Mullins, SC
  • Loris, SC
  • Tabor City, NC


Requirements

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in workplace health, safety, and/or environmental compliance, preferably in a multi-site or distribution/logistics environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience (typically 5+ years in a dedicated HSE role) will be considered in lieu of a degree. OSHA 30-Hour, HAZWOPER, or similar safety certification is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and training skills. Ability to influence others, lead safety initiatives, and work independently across multiple locations. Ability to effectively communicate at various levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of OSHA, EPA, and relevant environmental regulations. Familiarity with safety audits, risk assessments, and compliance reporting. Familiarity and ability to use power equipment such as forklifts and order pickers.
  • Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with safety tracking systems and digital auditing tools is a plus.


Physical Requirements:

This role requires regular travel between facilities and includes exposure to both office and warehouse environments.

  • Mobility: Ability to travel to and move within multiple warehouse and office locations, including climbing stairs and walking on concrete floors.
  • Standing and Walking: Frequent standing and walking during site visits and audits.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., safety equipment, training materials, etc.).
  • Posture and Motion: Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching during inspections or equipment checks.
  • Vision and Hearing: Adequate vision and hearing for identifying hazards, reading reports, and communicating in varied work settings.
  • Work Environment: Exposure to warehouse environments with temperature changes, machinery noise, and operational movement.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires regular travel (estimated 30–40%) to DMA locations.
