Located in Plymouth Meeting, PA, Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital is a multi-service animal hospital offering general practice, specialty services, 24/7 emergency care, boarding, grooming, daycare, and rehabilitation. What You’ll Do


As a Veterinary Technician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our doctors and patients across various services. Whether you're assisting in surgery, monitoring hospitalized pets, or guiding clients through aftercare, your day will be filled with opportunities to make a difference.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform and support inpatient and outpatient care, including triage, diagnostics, treatments, and discharges
  • Assist with emergency cases, anesthesia, and surgical preparation/monitoring
  • Manage labs, bloodwork, radiographs, and medication administration (IV, IM, SQ, oral)
  • Provide clear, compassionate client communication and education
  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient logs (SOAPs)
  • Monitor hospitalized patients, collaborate on rounds, and support overnight emergencies (if applicable)
  • Participate in training and mentorship for new team members
  • Support your department’s organization, cleanliness, and inventory
     

You’ll be trained and encouraged to cross-train with different specialties (ER, anesthesia, surgery, internal medicine, and more), allowing you to broaden your skill set and explore different areas of interest.


Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position

  • This is a full-time position with 10-hour shifts that vary between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM (typical shifts include 6a–5p, 7a–6p, 8a–7p, or 10a–9p) and rotating weekends
Compensation
  • Starting at $21-$26/hr, depending on experience and credentials
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking veterinary professionals who are confident, caring, and ready to grow. You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician (credentialed or non-credentialed)  
  • Proficiency in basic technical skills (IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, triage, etc.)  
  • Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities  
  • A strong work ethic and a team-first mentality 
  • Passion for patient care and client support  
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
