About the Role

Job Purpose

 

  1. Carry out scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) on EMUs/Equipment/Component assigned by supervisor.
  2. Execute and comply all PM & CM works and related tasks with the approved quality procedures and work instructions.
  3. Execute and comply all tasks with the approved safety and operational procedures.
  4. Attend the necessary skills courses to be able to carry out the maintenance tasks.
  5. Responsible for the upkeep of the working environment.

Responsibilities

 

  1. Able to participate and complete the technical Skills training provided by SMRT and achieve the necessary qualification to perform maintenance work on SMRT Component Service Centre.
  2. Be sufficiently competent to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on SMRT Component Service Centre, as assigned by supervisors.
  3. Able to complete the preventive and corrective maintenance tasks within the established Standard times, and in accordance to the Work Instructions and related procedures.
  4. Exercise safety always; in accordance to established Safety procedures. Responsible for the safety of self and all co-workers, inclusive of contractors.
  5. Perform supporting maintenance activities such as overhead crane operator, forklift driver, etc, as authorized and required by the manager - Applicable to Qualified personnel only.
  6. Perform housekeeping and cleaning tasks at the workplace; to ensure workplace order and hygiene.
  7. Able to work on a shift roster system (as required) in accordance with the MOM guidelines and the Collective Agreement.
  8. Undertake any other tasks or functions that are incidental or ancillary to the performance of the works assigned: e.g. attend to emergency mainline incident, as assigned by supervisor.


To carry out the Preventive and Corrective Maintenance Works safely, the Technical Officer must physically:

  1. Not be sensitive or allergic to Component Service Centre Materials, POLs (Petrol, Oils and Lubricants) and dust involved in the conduct of the work. Note that standard PPE of safety shoes, gloves, masks and hearing protection will be provided.
  2. Able to work at height (WAH) on the train roof, while donning the necessary WAH safety equipment.
  3. Fit and able to climb staircases and ladders, stand for sufficient duration (4 hours) to accomplish the required maintenance works.
  4. Lift and handle heavy machineries, tools, equipment or spares of up to 10kg for men and 7kg for women.
  5. Able to work underframe of EMU for sufficient duration (4 hours) which may require frequent squatting and bending
  6. Able to work in a shift roster system (if required) without affecting his concentration at work.
  7. Able to work under the sun (as required) on any related operations.

Qualifications & Work Experience

 

  1. Nitec Certificate in Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Preferably 1 to 3 years relevant experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical equipment.
  3. Possession of welder/machinist qualification will be added value.
