Description
Performs a variety of tasks, as directed by the Nurse Manager/Center Director to care for patients and ensure a safe, organized, and clean environment for staff and patients by being a role model for excellence in quality care, customer satisfaction, and quality improvement.
Essential Functions
Assists in the planning and preparation for planned procedures
Assembles necessary supplies and equipment required for the surgical procedure
Greets patient and identifies them by two identifiers
Connects patient to monitor in both the Pre-op areas and Operating rooms
Demonstrates proper use of wheelchair and other OR equipment
Escorts and/or transports patients safely; transfers patients from wheelchair to bed or vice versa when the patient is immobile
Positions patient in proper body alignment and padding/supporting extremities
Bring crash cart to code blue area
Cleans Pre-op and Operating rooms, furniture and equipment, and recovery areas according to prescribed procedure
Assists in providing optimum assurance of a safe environment including maintaining awareness of safety and explosive hazards, and safety equipment checks daily
Handles/disposes of sharps boxes, biohazard bags, chemotherapeutic sharp boxes and bags, and contaminated laundry and garbage by following appropriate Surgical Center protocol
Handles biohazard materials and pickup by the waste company
Attends and participates in required in-service programs and education endeavors
Repairs and manages the equipment and tools from the Surgery Center
Checks and logs generator on a daily and monthly basis
Changes lights and bulbs as needed in the surgical area and lobby
Opens and closes the surgery center when Nurse Manager/Center Director is not present
Responsible for medical gas handling and storage; Cleans and puts away oxygen tanks and air tanks from the supplier into surgery rooms and beds
Responsible for monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, checking the charge, evidence of tampering, and accessibility
Maintains patient privacy by preventing undue exposure
Responsible for weekly and monthly testing of fire alarms and emergency lights, Generator, etc.

Maintains effective working relationships with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, and all other personnel
Performs other related duties as directed for the efficient operation of the Surgery Center; May be delegated responsibility or given special assignments by the Nurse Manager/Center Director or Registered Nurse
Requirements
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
Current BLS certification, or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
Ability to work as a team member and share knowledge with co-workers.
Demonstrates dependability, accountability, and willingness to accept assignments and float to other areas as needed.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Demonstrated commitment to patient care and safety.
Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and patient needs.
Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records systems.

The compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets.
