SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates welding equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Operates welding equipment.
- MIG, TIG, and other types of welding equipment
- Operates torches, plasma cutter, grinders, brake, shear, saw and other metal fabricating equipment.
- Welds or fabricates a variety of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel and a variety of carbon steels.
- Reads Engineering Prints.
- Understands dimensions and tolerancing
- Verifies conformance to specified requirements
- Provides minor maintenance on welding and fabricating equipment.
- Uses PL software to determine schedule of parts to be manufactured.
MISCELLANEOUS RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - One year certificate from college or technical school; four years' experience and/or training in operating welding and metal fabricating equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Materials knowledge.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
