About the Role

Member Service Representative plays a critical role in delivering exceptional service to members by addressing their financial needs and inquiries with professionalism and accuracy. This position is responsible for facilitating a wide range of banking transactions while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. The representative acts as a trusted professional, promoting credit union products and services that align with members' goals, thereby contributing to the growth and retention of the member base. Through effective communication and relationship-building skills, the role fosters long-term member satisfaction and loyalty. Ultimately, the Member Service Representative ensures a seamless and positive credit union experience that supports the institution’s reputation and operational success.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated typing and computer usage.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with a broad range of banking products and services.
  • Previous experience in branch banking or financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in cash handling and retail banking operations.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and other compliance requirements.
  • Strong selling abilities with a proven track record of promoting financial products.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively establish relationships with members.
  • Certification or training related to financial regulations or compliance.
  • Experience using banking software and customer relationship management (CRM) tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide prompt, courteous, and accurate service to members by processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable credit union regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and other financial regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and promote appropriate credit union products and services to meet members’ financial needs and goals.
  • Maintain accurate cash handling procedures and balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with members to enhance their credit union experience and encourage continued engagement with the institution.

Minimum Physical Requirements:    

  • Sitting for prolonged periods at a desk working on a computer.
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time in a stationary position.
  • Walking on occasion for up to 2 hours per day.
  • Reaching, bending, twisting, turning frequently.
  • Lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying up to 30 pounds on occasion.

Knowledge of banking regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, guides the representative in adhering to legal requirements and internal policies. Establishing relationships with members leverages strong communication and interpersonal skills to build loyalty and enhance the overall member experience.

Benefits and Pay:

The expected pay for a Member Service Representative I at the Main Branch is $23.10 per hour.

This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this role based on typical qualifications and market data. Offered pay may vary depending on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
