Ancestry.com.au is the Australia's largest family history website with over 2 billion genealogy records available to search.  We are looking for a Digitisation Operative for an upcoming project that includes the digitisation of collections.  This will take place on site at the Tasmanian Archives and Special Collections, Libraries Tasmania, Hobart, TAS.

This a 3 month fixed-term contract and the successful candidate must be available for full-time work.
 


What you will do

  • You will operate and maintain the imaging equipment (training will be given)

  • You will quality Assure resulting images

  • You will carry out minor document prep as required

     

Who you are

  • You have knowledge of scanning techniques or are willing to learn

  • You have a strong sense of purpose and pride in your work

  • You have excellent initiative

  • You can work effectively both independently and as a member of a team

  • You're able to work under pressure and to deadlines

  • You have proven IT ability



Desirable but not esstential

  • Previous experience of similar project work

  • General knowledge and appreciation of history/genealogy

  • General knowledge of photography
     

Contract:      Temporary (3 months)

Rate:               $ 28

Hours:            37.5 hours per week excluding meal breaks. 

The Archive building is open to staff between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
