Position Summary:

G.S. Precision (GSP), a global leader in high-precision aerospace and defense components, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead our purchasing function across all facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, components, and MRO supplies to support production schedules. The Purchasing Manager will oversee the purchasing team and play a critical role in supplier performance, cost control, lead time reduction, and purchase order execution.
 

This position will report to the VP of Supply Chain and work closely with Planning, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Supplier Quality to ensure supplier alignment and material readiness.

Requirements

 

Procurement Management

  • Lead and develop the purchasing team responsible for raw materials, components, and execution of established long-term agreements (LTAs).
  • Establish and manage strategic agreements with outside process vendors (OVs); collaborate closely with the OV team to ensure alignment and effective execution.
  • Partner with the VP of Supply Chain to expand LTAs and strategic sourcing opportunities.
  • Support supplier segmentation and sourcing strategies to reduce risk, improve responsiveness, and optimize total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Ensure timely and accurate placement of purchase orders in alignment with MRP and planning requirements.
  • Monitor daily procurement reports and manage order adjustments proactively to meet demand changes.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships; serve as the point of contact for issue escalation.
  • Develop and maintain supplier performance scorecards (quality, delivery, responsiveness, cost) and lead regular business reviews.
  • Drive cost savings initiatives in collaboration with Engineering and Finance.
  • Work closely with the Sales Quoting team to support new product introduction programs by ensuring timely sourcing and supplier engagement.
  • Ensure quick escalation and resolution of supplier quality or delivery issues in coordination with Supplier Quality and Planning.
  • Collaborate with Finance to reconcile purchase order pricing, receipts, and invoice discrepancies.

Systems & Reporting

  • Ensure ERP data integrity for purchase orders, supplier records, lead times, and part sourcing.
  • Ensure the Purchasing team has the data and reports necessary to execute procurement activities in synchronization with operational needs.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to drive visibility and performance improvement. Key metrics include:

- PO placement timeliness

-Supplier on-time delivery

-Purchase price variance 

- Material availability for on-time production starts 

-Supplier performance against LTAs or negotiated agreements

  • Identify process inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement efforts in the procurement function.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience procuring and working with raw material distributors and mills is a plus. 
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and purchasing best practices.
  • Demonstrated success in managing supplier relationships and driving performance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with high-mix, low-volume manufacturing or aerospace/defense components preferred.
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or related supply chain certification a plus.
