 At Gills Point S, our Overnight Route Driver is responsible for the prompt, secure, and efficient transportation of goods and packages from Boise, ID to Moscow, ID twice a week, while operating a 26-foot box truck. This role requires overnight stays and the ability to drive safely in winter weather conditions. 


 RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Transporting Goods: Safely transporting goods and packages to and from specified locations within a given time frame. This can include documents, parts, tires, or equipment.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Ensuring the vehicle is maintained in good working condition, which may include regular check-ups, cleaning, and immediate reporting of any mechanical problems.
  • Loading and Unloading: Efficiently loading and unloading goods or packages, ensuring they are securely placed to prevent damage during transport.
  • Customer Service: Professionally interacting with customers upon delivery, which may include answering questions, verifying deliveries with signatures, and handling payments or paperwork if necessary.
  • Route Planning: Planning and following the most efficient routes for delivery, taking into account traffic conditions, distance, and delivery times.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, including times, routes, and any issues encountered, in compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safe and legal operation of the vehicle. This may also include following company-specific safety protocols.
  • Problem Resolution: Addressing and resolving any customer issues or concerns that may arise during the delivery process.

Requirements

   

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record is required. 
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination. 
  • Physical Fitness: Being physically fit enough to load and unload goods, and to sit for extended periods while driving. (up to 100lbs, unassisted)
  • Navigation Skills: Being able to navigate efficiently to various locations, which may include using GPS devices or maps.
  • Customer Service Skills: Possess strong communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with customers and represent the company positively.
  • Time Management: Demonstrating excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries and efficient route planning.
  • Flexibility: Being flexible with working hours, as delivery drivers may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to cross state lines, if necessary. 
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
