Position Summary:   

 

The Rehab Tech provides assistance with patient services for the professional staff.  In addition, the Rehab Tech cleans and sets up equipment, can assume most duties of Department Secretary, performs pre-authorizations, and maintains various types of statistical records for the department.

 

Essential Functions (Responsibilities/Accountabilities):

  • Supports rehab staff as needed with patients by monitoring vitals, supervising patients while on equipment, and being an additional support person to assist with transfers.
  • Performs set-up, donning, and doffing of Holter Monitors
  • Checks on patients as needed or requested by clinicians to ensure patient safety and comfort. 
  • Assists therapists with interventions as outlined within the IL Practice Act.        
  • Checks for outdates and restocks medical and non-medical supplies as needed
  • Demonstrates proficiency in taking physician orders and screening of patient documents for required components as mandated by each individual service line.
  • Schedules patients for appointments.
  • Performs reminder calls and office duties as needed such as scanning, filing, and faxing.
  • Responds to emergent situations, reports to appropriate areas, and follows proper policies to maintain patient safety.
  • Assists with transporting patients in/out of the department as needed.
  • Demonstrates good telephone etiquette and responds quickly to incoming calls.
  • Maintains accurate statistical records as requested by the Department Supervisor.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff members
  • Completes maintenance logs for equipment on a daily basis
  • Maintains professional behavior; treats staff, patients and visitors with respect, consideration and dignity.  
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism concerning patient rights.
  • Makes adjustments to the Rehabilitation Services schedule for call-ins, planned vacations, or sick time.
  • Provides direction and/or assistance to patients, families, and visitors in a courteous and positive manner. Interacts with rehabilitation services staff, physicians, and nurses in a positive manner.

 

The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital’s goals and objectives.

 

 

Position Requirements:  

 

  • High School Graduate or equivalent. 
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a health-related field preferred.
  • BLS preferred
  • CNA preferred with excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Familiarity with medical office/hospital procedures
  • Ability to deal tactfully with staff, physicians’ offices, patients, and visitors
  • Ability to multi-task between multiple patients and assisting multiple therapists simultaneously
  • Ability to work in the clinic and office settings
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule to cover departmental needs as needed


 

Pay Range:

Pay ranges from $15.000/hour to $20.603/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)
