Kern Regional Center is one of 21 private, non-profit regional centers contracted by the State of California through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate community-based services and support for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Kern Regional Center services over 10,000 individuals in Kern, Inyo and Mono Counties. Our counties cover approximately 22,000 square miles with a population of over 945,000 people.
This position supports Kern Regional Center’s efforts to reduce disparities in services, expand community resource access, and implement a DDS-funded grant project. The Community Connector will identify barriers, develop strategies, and facilitate connections to both Regional Center services and generic community resources (such as food insecurity, housing support, SSI, and rental assistance). As part of the grant, the Specialist will assist in purchasing, distributing, and training clients and families on the use of Chromebooks and other digital tools. Responsibilities include developing and facilitating trainings, designing pre- and post-surveys, and supporting data reporting requirements.
Requirements
The Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, political science, psychology, sociology, business administration, public administration, IT/communications, or related human services field from an accredited school.
- Two (2) years of experience in community outreach, training/facilitation, report writing, or working with community-based organizations.
- Any equivalent combination of relevant work and educational experience may be considered.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required (fluent in speaking, reading, and writing).
Duration: This is a temporary, grant-funded assignment scheduled to end on or before June 30, 2026, contingent upon continued funding from the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). The position may be considered for transition into a full-time permanent role, based on organizational needs and funding availability.

Hourly pay range: $25.37 - $35.70
Starting hourly range: $25.37 - $27.97
