Requirements

SUMMARY

The Midweek Worship Director provides vision, leadership, and spiritual oversight for worship for midweek ministries of Southwest Church. This role ensures all worship gatherings are?Christ-centered, biblically faithful, musically excellent, and culturally relevant. The director leads worship volunteers and collaborates closely with the Next-Gen and other ministry pastors, Experience Team, and ministry staff to create meaningful, Spirit-led worship environments that align with the mission and values of Southwest Church.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a vital team member within the Next-Gen Ministry team, you will work closely with the Next-Gen pastor. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Worship Leadership & Vision 

• Provide vision and leadership for worship within the Young Adult ministry. 
• Ensure all worship environments reflect the theology, culture, mission, and values of Southwest Church. 
• Lead worship during weekly Young Adult gatherings and special events as assigned. 

Team Development & Discipleship 

• Disciple and develop volunteer worship leaders, vocalists, and instrumentalists both spiritually and musically. 
• Provide?pastoral care?to worship team members, encouraging spiritual growth, emotional health, and excellence in service. 
• Recruit, train, and mentor volunteer musicians and worship leaders, building reproducing leaders within the ministry. 

Service Planning & Collaboration 

• Partner with the Young Adult Campus Pastor and Experience Team to plan and execute worship sets and creative elements for Young Adult services. 
• Collaborate with Production, Students, Young Adults, and other ministry areas to create unified and engaging worship experiences. 

Creative Direction & Music Selection 

• Oversee song selection, worship flow, and integration of creative elements that support teaching themes. 
• Ensure theological accuracy and musical excellence in all worship moments. 
• Introduce new music thoughtfully while maintaining accessible congregational songs. 

Pastoral & Administrative Responsibilities 

• Assist in developing and managing the?Young Adult worship ministry budget, stewarding resources wisely. 
• Manage worship ministry scheduling, planning tools, and volunteer communication. 
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

JOB SCOPE

The Midweek Worship Director provides leadership and direction for worship for midweek ministries, helping create environments where people authentically encounter God. Reporting to the Next-Gen Pastor, this role leads and develops volunteer worship teams while collaborating with ministry staff to create biblically faithful and musically excellent services. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Alignment with the?Mission, Vision, and Leadership Model?of Southwest Church. 
• A growing, mature relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to worship ministry. 
• Demonstrated experience in worship leadership, including developing volunteer teams. 
• Strong vocal and musical ability with knowledge of contemporary worship styles and biblical theology of worship. 
• Proven ability to disciple and mentor leaders spiritually and musically. 
• Excellent communication and organizational skills. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Worship, Music, Theology, or related field?preferred. 
• 2–3 years?of worship leadership experience required; pastoral leadership experience preferred. 
• Physical requirements: Constant periods of sitting and repetitive motions. Occasionally able to lift or move up to 20lbs and standing or walking.
