Pay Range: $18.58-$23.70 per hour based on experience and qualifications. Full time position. Upon successful completion of the program you will eligible to sit for your Registered Medical Assistant. Once you become a Registered Medical Assistant you are eligible for an additional $1.50 increase.
You will work and learn in the clinic and get paid as a full time employee. This is a designed to be a 22 week course. In person classes will be taught by SPRHC Clinical Educator, held once a week on Thursday afternoons 4pm-5pm. This will ensure that students have time to ask questions and go over progression of the course. Course work outside of normal work hours will be required and is not paid.
Requirements
Summary: Works as a team member to assist with daily functions in clinic setting to help promote a smooth and effective workflow to ensure patient care is completed thoroughly and timely. Assists medical providers in providing a continuity of health care to the patients at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center clinics.
Essential Job Functions:
• Promotes the mission, vision and values of SPRHC.
• Assures that all nursing and or medical assistant services are provided in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements of federal, state and local rules and regulations.
• Provide effective communication to improve health literacy.
• Facilitate patient access to appropriate medical and specialty providers and other care coordination team support specialists.
• Serve as the primary contact of informational resource for patient, family, care team, payers and community resources in the support of care plans.
• Ensure effective tracking of test results, medication management.
• Attend and actively participate in all training required for position.
• Assist with triage nurse/MA for clinic.
• Perform medication prior authorizations.
• Perform all duties in daily clinic including but not limited to vital signs, CLIA waived testing, venipunctures, therapeutic injections, immunizations.
• Assist with stocking exam rooms and monitoring all materials and medications for expirations and stock levels.
• Prepare patients for examinations or treatments. Ensures flow of patient care; anticipate the needs of the provider.
• Participate in all quality improvement activities designated by clinic managers.
• Perform other functions as required to fulfill the expectations of the Medical Assistant.
Minimum Required Education/Experience: Minimum of three years’ work experience in direct patient care in Family Practice is preferred. Computer applications work experience is preferred.
Pre-Employment Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
• Ability to operate general office equipment including computer software applications (e-mail, surveillance equipment/cameras).
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other agencies, employees and administration as well as clinic team members.
• Previous experience in clinic setting (Family Practice preferred).
Note: An acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.
Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to submit to a tuberculosis screening process.
Licenses or Certificates: None.
Unusual Demands: Work is subject to recurring and inflexible deadlines and frequent interruptions.
