We do so with a small team of highly-skilled engineers from our offices in SF and Berlin and we are currently looking for a highly motivated and proactive Satellite Tasking Engineer to join our operations team.</p> <p>Your mission will be to support day-to-day operations, which includes collection performance analysis, order monitoring, performing feasibility studies and the development of our operational tools.&nbsp;</p> <p>The ideal candidate is a self-starter, quick learner, good communicator, and has the ability to switch contexts quickly. You will be working in a close collaborative environment, and will gain first-hand experience in numerous fields related to managing satellite image acquisition planning, geospatial data analysis, tool development and process automation by supporting our operations team.&nbsp;</p> <p>This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our Berlin office 3 days per week.</p> <p><strong>Impact You’ll Own:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Support Collection Planning team during operational planning process</li> <li>Prepare geospatial data, maps and dashboards</li> <li>Run &amp; interpret standard and complex feasibility studies</li> <li>Develops, validates and automates&nbsp; operational tools</li> <li>Proactively improve existing processes</li> <li>Collaborates with image quality support, orbits, mission software, space operations, data pipeline and product teams</li> </ul> <p><strong>What You Bring:</strong></p> <ul> <li>2+ years of relevant experience&nbsp;</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, engineering, or geo science</li> <li>Software development experience in Python or equivalent</li> <li>Data-driven mindset and comfortable with data analysis</li> <li>Sound SQL skills, familiar with git / version control</li> <li>Understanding of satellite imagery and remote sensing</li> <li>Self-starter that proactively tackles problems and brings in their own ideas</li> <li>Ability to work in a dynamic environment</li> <li>Team player with an ability to learn and collaborate across teams</li> <li>Fluent in written and spoken English, the language of the company</li> </ul> <p><strong>What Makes You Stand Out:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Familiar with automation and software development tools (i.e. Jenkins, Bash, Git)</li> <li>Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Looker Studio, OMNI, CARTO).</li> <li>Familiarity with geospatial software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL) or libraries (e.g., Shapely, GeoPandas).</li> </ul> <p><strong>Application Deadline: </strong>February 20th, 2026 at 11:59PM</p> <p><strong>Export Control Requirements:</strong></p> <p><em>Planet Labs Germany GmbH is authorized to receive U.S. export-controlled information at Planet under an export license issued by the Bureau of Industry and Security.
