Engineering Manager

Heka.ai is the independent brand of Sia Partners dedicated to AI solutions. We host many AI-powered SaaS solutions that can be combined with consulting services or used independently, to provide our customers with solutions at scale.

Sia Partners is looking for an Engineering Manager to support the development of the Data Science Business Line in our new office in Mumbai.  

Your main responsibilities will include: 

• Team Leadership: Hire, coach, and retain engineers; grow tech leads and senior ICs. Establish trust through design sessions, reviews, and unblockers while fostering a culture of ownership and innovation.
• Technical Strategy: Define and drive quarterly technical roadmaps aligned with business priorities. Lead architecture evolutions (e.g., scaling APIs, pipelines, or AI integration).
• Architecture & Design Reviews: Ensure scalability, security, and performance across services. Embed architectural guardrails, coding guidelines, and documentation standards.
• Hands-On Contribution: Contribute targeted PRs (scaffolding, infra-as-code, unblockers, devex improvements) monthly/quarterly without owning critical delivery paths.
• Promotion of Innovation and Efficiency: Uphold the highest standards of excellence and efficiency in software engineering practices. Foster a culture of ongoing enhancement, encouraging innovative thinking and knowledge exchange throughout the organization.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Research, and Ops to deliver customer-visible value. Sequence ambiguous requirements into actionable milestones and deliver frequent wins.
• Talent Development and Engagement: Engage in recruiting, training, and empowering premier engineering talent. Attract, develop, and maintain outstanding engineers, creating an environment of excellence and cooperative effort. 

• Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or international equivalent in a relevant subject (Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or Business preferred).
• Experience: Over 8 years in software development, including at least 2 years in a leadership role managing software development teams. Demonstrated expertise in the technology product sector, with a robust understanding of product development processes and innovation.
• Core Skills: Algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, cloud-native design patterns.
• Languages & Frameworks: Python (core), Node.js & React.js (working familiarity).
• Technical Expertise: Proficient in developing and launching modern SaaS products. Solid knowledge of scalable cloud-native systems, especially on public cloud platforms like AWS. Skilled in modern DevOps practices, adhering to the philosophy of "you build it, you run it."
• Leadership Skills: A decisive technology leader who prioritizes action. Outstanding interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships and collaborating across functions to achieve common objectives. Strong command of the English language, adept in both written and verbal communication, effective at all organizational levels. 
• Global Collaboration: Demonstrated skills in global team collaboration. Experienced in leading managers and excelling in attracting and retaining top engineering talents. 
• Technical skills: Proficient in cloud deployment strategies, including Private Cloud and AWS, alongside containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Familiar with CI/CD methodologies and tools including Gitlab. Skilled in programming languages such as Python and in scripting languages like Bash.
