About the Role

  1. Practices according to entity mandatory requirements.      
  2. Practices according to department expectations.     
  3. Practices with a Customer Service approach to all activities.           
  4. Cares for patients utilizing the nursing process.                   
  5. Provides care as part of the interdisciplinary team.             
  6. Utilizes internal and external resources.                   
  7. Provides effective patient/family teaching.              
  8. Documents according to entity/department guidelines.                  
  9. Administers medications safely.                    
  10. Provides care according to best practice standards of care in nursing.                    
  11. Identifies signs and symptoms of neglect/abuse and reports as required by law.              
  12. Cares for the terminally ill patient and family.         
  13. Manages the patient with pain.                    
  14. Utilizes chemical and physical restraints as per policy.        
  15. Utilizes techniques of time management effectively.
  16. Provides care respective of patient's advance directives.
  17. Maintains appropriate licenses, certifications, registrations to perform duties of their designated role/positions.
  18. Addresses the age-specific needs of patients, specifically adolescents, adults, geriatric adults.
  19. Performs skills safely and according to specific policies/protocols.  
  20. Manages patients with chest drainage devices.       
  21. Manages patients with Intravenous Therapy.           
  22. Uses Electronic Medical Record appropriately and accurately.       
  23. Manages patients receiving epidural analgesia.       
  24. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in administration and assessment of patient response to cardiac medications.  
  25. Manages patients on telemetry monitoring.
  26. Responds appropriately in emergency/urgent situations.    
  27. Provides care to post-operative patients.     
  28. Cares for patients with orthopedic diagnoses.          
  29. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Maintains BLS certification.
  • Successful completion of Medical/Surgical IV Medication Module within 3 months of hire.
  • Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia exam, before hire.
  • Bi-Pap Competency within 3 months of hire and then yearly for RNs caring for patients requiring Bi-Pap (MS1 RNs only)
