Job Description
This position will report to Sr Supervisor Wet Seal and responsible to deliver a wide range of Engineered-to-Order Mechanical Sealing design services to Global Engineering and various site technical offices as assigned.
Responsible to implement QMS for Mechanical Sealing design, engineering process auditing and ensure follow the engineering process compliance to codes and standards, adhere to the best engineering practices for safe & reliable product engineering.
This position will be responsible to perform a variety of design/drafting tasks under direct or indirect supervision using corporate CAD software. These may include customer GA’s, detail (Manufacturing) drawings, proposal drawings, sketches or component design and other site technical office support activities. All work is expected to be managed to agreed targets and be of the highest possible standard (error free design).
Responsibilities:
- To handle projects and Customer queries independently
- Technical discussions on design enhancements with Applications team
- To execute quality checks for redrawn or legacy conversion drawings
- Secondary point of contact for handling GCNs
- To clarify the queries raised by manufacturing sites
- Coach and motivate team members to improve performance
- Perform other duties as required in support of John Crane business objectives as set forth by Sr Supervisor
- To meet and exceed the business expectations in terms of quality, cost and delivery
- Reviewing the Drawing Office requests, establishing design requirements
- Prepare Error Free General Arrangement and Manufacturing drawings in Solid Edge using 2D and 3D techniques
- To execute quality self-checks for General Arrangement and Manufacturing drawings
- Process Global Change Notification
- Maintain and submit monthly performance report to Sr Supervisor
- Build and maintain good rapport with respective site technical offices to meet their business requirements
- To use Engineering tools and perform basic Engineering calculations as required
- To promote and ensure “First Time Right” culture throughout the Drawing Office activities
- Should actively promote and contribute to Continuous Improvements in their day to day work
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis and assist Corrective Actions according to SCAT (Systematic cause analysis technique)
- To maintain designated records in-line with IMS requirement
- To deliver accurate and timely drawing design support for Global Engineering and various site technical offices across countries
- Support Global Engineering strategic initiatives as required

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Should have 2-3 years of relevant experience (in Design office which deals with precision components and assemblies)
- Must have thorough understanding of John Crane drawing standards, seal components, Global Engineering processes, fluid handling equipment, design standards and Process Industry terminology
- Highly competent in Solid Edge
- Requires a basic understanding of design for manufacturing principles
- Good application knowledge of Fits and Tolerances and GD&T symbols in Design
- Committed to continuous improvement and attitude to learn from own and other's mistakes
- Should be able to Plan and prioritize work and able to work under pressure
- Commitment to work with systematic approach and adhere to company's processes and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel and across functional lines
- Requires excellent personal computing skills, particularly competent in Microsoft Office
- Ability to read and interpret project requirements and documentation from a wide variety of customers
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
