What You'll Do:
The Bureau of Maternal Child and Family Health is seeking for a Health Services Policy Analyst to support efforts to improve child and adolescent health. In this role, you will perform analytical studies of health care status, cost, quality, use and/or access to health care services and formulate and implement policies specific for the Child and Specialty Health Section. Duties include:
- Providing evidence-based recommendations to supports program improvements and strategic planning.
- Participating in health service needs assessments to address gaps and barriers in child and adolescent health.
- Collecting, analyzing and interpreting healthcare data from multiple sources.
- Producing statistical, quantitative and qualitative reports.
- Preparing dashboards, data visualizations and narrative reports to support decision making.
- Conducting and presenting research related to congenital and genetic conditions, hearing programs, infant health, and similar initiatives.
- Leading and/or supporting research and evaluation projects, including survey development and data collection.
- Conducting program evaluations, trend analysis, and 5-years program improvement plans.
- Developing methodologies to assess healthcare quality, outcomes and access.
- Coordinating efforts and presenting findings to internal and external audiences including leadership, advisory committees, stake holders.
- Facilitating connections between agencies, nonprofits, hospitals and schools to improve child and adolescent health.
- Respond to public inquiries regarding health data and program operations.
- Assist in developing or refining program protocols, reporting mechanisms and internal work processes.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Position may require travel.
Position Qualifications:
Completion of undergraduate core coursework & 12 mos. exp. in one of following: health services administration, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, public administration, allied health sciences, nursing, economics, public health, or comparable field AND all of the following bulleted criteria:
12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in research methodology, measurement & testing, analysis of variance & survey sampling
6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in use of computer programs/applications used for spreadsheets, statistical analysis & graphics presentation & word processing
1 course or 3 mos. exp. in multiple regression or multivariate analysis.
OR
Completion of graduate core coursework in health services administration, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, public administration, allied health sciences, nursing, economics or comparable field AND all of the following bulleted criteria:
12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in research methodology, measurement & testing, analysis of variance & survey sampling
6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in use of computer programs/applications used for spreadsheets, statistical analysis & graphics presentation & word processing
1 course or 3 mos. exp. in multiple regression or multivariate analysis.
Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Additional Qualifications:
Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria:
Graduate or advanced degree in health services administrations, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, public administration, allied health sciences, nursing or economics
Expertise and experience in survey design and designing data collection tools
Expertise and experience in applying statistical analysis to datasets
Expertise and experience in using SAS, SPSS, or other statistical software packages
Experience developing statistical and narrative reports for professional and lay audiences
Experience extracting, compiling, validating, integrating, and interpreting data from multiple sources
Experience in public speaking and presenting training
Experience presenting data visually across all organizational levels
Experience in policy analysis and development
Experience coordinating or evaluating public health programs
