POSITION SUMMARY:

The Patent Agent & Portfolio Development Lead develops and executes Kids2’s patent strategy. This includes drafting patents, leading prosecution, directing complex FTO analysis, building multi-layered patent portfolios, and leading patent training across the China organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patent Drafting & Prosecution

- Draft Chinese invention, utility model, and design patents

- Draft initial US patent claims and work with US counsel to perfect and file

- Execute China and PCT filing strategy

- Build multi-patent protection belts for core products

- Manage prosecution and office action responses

- Manage patent maintenance process for existing Kids2 global portfolio   

Patent Portfolio Strategy

- Become fully versed leader of Kids2 global patent portfolio

- Align patent strategy with product roadmaps

- Identify patentable features early

- Evaluate competitor portfolios to identify white space for Kids2

- Recommend future filings and enhancements

High-Level FTO & Risk Assessment

- Provide complex, claim-heavy FTO analysis as-needed

- Assist with U.S./EU risk interpretations

- Finalize FTO recommendations

Early Concept Integration

- Attend early design/engineering meetings

- Identify inventions for patent capture

- Train engineers on invention documentation

China–U.S. Collaboration

- Serve as primary liaison to U.S. IP/legal teams

- Provide monthly competitive intelligence updates

Patent Training Leadership

- Lead quarterly patent training sessions with engineers, category managers and sales team

- Develop and maintain education materials

- Train teams on infringement risk mitigation

Enforcement Support

- Support General Counsel with enforcement initiatives

-  Develop proactive enforcement strategies for China market

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT, or technical field
• 10+ years patent drafting/prosecution experience
• Strong China + PCT expertise
• Fluent English required
• Strong collaboration with engineering teams
