Job title: Field Merchandiser

Department:  Marketing 

Reports to:  Merchandising Manager


Position summary: This is a support position within the marketing department intended to help the company quickly react to market changes and create a competitive advantage within the store by having the right products available for purchase at the right time. Execute merchandising strategies across all store locations, supporting brand consistency and operational efficiency. It is also vital that this position support the management of inventory within the store to ensure accurate product counts.  In addition to providing support on larger projects, this position will have a set of assigned stores that they will be responsible for on a regular basis and report progress to the Merchandising Manager daily. Position must work seamlessly with all departments and external stakeholders. Additional responsibilities will include participation in community events, corporate events, and key marketing initiatives.

  • Meets and exceeds expectations of the Family Express culture including building relationships, promoting the Living Brand, and serves as a product brand advocate
  • Assist in planning for store sets and resets
  • Execute and teach the snake method of merchandising by touching each item and bringing each label to its fronted and faced position
  • Ensure stores are following updated planograms and pricing is up to date
  • Update assigned tasks in Zenput (Basecamp or alternative software) with photos and additional details during category resets
  • Identify areas within stores for additional merchandising opportunities
  • Make some minor adjustments to marketing equipment, signage, displays, etc.
  • Execute store sets, resets and new store openings (including some physical labor tasks)
  • Verify and assist in execution of marketing plans at store level
  • Update records of store layouts and marketing equipment as needed
  • Ensure that all vendors are aware of and comply with the Family Express Corporation vendor policy
  • Perform inventory counts at store level as necessary
  • Manage vendor relations related to merchandising, marketing equipment, and displays
  • Assist in ensuring information accuracy within pricebook and information management systems
  • Be able to effectively and professionally interact with Family Express personnel, the community, the industry, customers, vendors and stores
  • Strong organizational skills, demonstrating ability to follow-through with project initiatives in an efficient and timely manner 
  • Possess a level of expertise in the general area of retail marketing.
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Role Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent degree
  • Previous retail / merchandising experience
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for prolonged periods; work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear; taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. This specific position does require the ability to handle/move heavy objects, such as moving display cases within a store environment.
  • Work Environment: Must have flexibility, all days of the week, when necessary and reliable transportation.
