ABOUT YOU:
The Tech Manager’s job is to meet the Tech Plan for their department while delivering a high level customer service experience that builds trust and rapport with riders.
Mike’s Bikes’ Technicians are known for their cutting-edge knowledge and expertise in the cycling community. We pride ourselves in offering honest and practical bike-related advice, and doing what is right by the customers. You will embody and have a solid understanding of Mike's Bikes' company values and safety programs to ensure everyone abides by them.
This position will be located at the Mike's Bikes Store in Palo Alto, CA. Address is 4233 Middlefield Rd. Palo Alto, CA 94303
WHAT DOES YOUR DAY JOB LOOK LIKE:
General
-Assist your GM with scheduling tech staff
-Assist buyers with the maintenance of product
-Conduct performance reviews of tech staff annually
Productivity
-Understand the Tech plan and achieve results
-Increase your productivity through effective booking and managing of staff
-Schedule appropriately to ensure proper coverage
-Work with and train your staff to help them grow their skillsets to hit shop goals
Customer Experience
-Ensure customers are greeted promptly at the service counter
-Make certain all estimates are accurate and clear for customers
-Confirm all bikes are ready when promised and make sure customers are properly notified
-Verify quality of repair work
-Execute our Rules of Customer Service to resolve all customer conflicts accordingly
Leadership
-Maintain a successful and productive staff by teaching, encouraging, and coaching
-Provide clear expectations and direction as well as give direct feedback for improvement
-Reward staff for excellent performance and correct negative behavior when needed
Procedures
-Properly execute all warranties and shipping procedures
-Manage your labor schedule according to company standards
-Keep department inventory tagged, organized, and accurate
-Maintain Standards of Cleanliness and Safety
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
-3+ years of experience with race-level bicycle maintenance for a bike shop
-Great communication skills, problem solver, and has strong attention to details
-Strong organization skills and the ability to multitask
-Thoughtful leader and shows proper self-awareness skills
-High level knowledge of bicycle mechanics and the ability to resolve bike related issues in a timely manner
-Stay up to date on the latest bike trends and technology
-Ability to stand at a bike repair stand for an entire eight-hour work shift
-Ability to use hand tools with repetitive motions, including twisting, pushing, and pulling 100% of the time
-Must be able to work weekends as part of a regular schedule
HOURLY RANGE: This compensation package will be dependent on experience, qualifications, industry experience and the interview with a potential range between $25 - $30 per hour. This position will also be eligible for a bonus based on the successful completion of performance goals.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend and explain documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in English.

The ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds’ solo and up to 50 pounds’ shoulder to height repetitively throughout the day. Vision may be corrected within normal range. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
