About the Role

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related discipline; (ii) at least one year of practical experience in cell culture and molecular biological techniques; (iii) willingness to learn new things, self-motivated, well organised, co-operative with a responsible work attitude; (iv) the ability to work independently; and (v) good communication skills in Chinese and English.

Duties include (a) working under the Director of the Institute and his management team to provide assistance in the daily operations of the Core Laboratory and communal facilities of the Institute which houses about 60 research groups with over 500 members when in full-fledged operation; (b) providing technical support for core platforms to research teams; (c) providing assistance in the daily operations and housekeeping of the Animal Facility, Tissue Culture Rooms and Core Laboratory; (d) undertaking booking arrangement; (e) maintaining the equipment of the facility; (f) maintenance of inventory; (g) performing outside office hour tasks when attending urgent matters of the concerned facilities when necessary; and (h) performing any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor as appropriate. Applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment as Junior Research Assistant.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
