About the Role

Department of Anatomical and Cellular Pathology
Laboratory Assistant

The appointee will work in teaching and research laboratories at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin. He/She will be responsible for (a) housekeeping tasks, such as inventory control of laboratory consumables, chemical waste disposal, and facilities and equipment maintenance; (b) assisting in the daily laboratory operations, including cleaning and sterilising laboratory instruments; (c) setting up laboratory / classroom for teaching and events; (d) assisting in labourer work;  (e) performing outdoor duties, including delivery of specimen and reports; and (f) performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s). Saturday off on a rotating basis.

 

Applicants should have (i) completed secondary education; (ii) Grade E/Level 2 or above in at least 5 subjects in HKCEE, including Chinese and English (Syllabus B); OR any combination of results in at least 5 HKDSE subjects (including Level 2 or above in Chinese and English): Level 2 or above in NSS subjects, “Attained” or above in ApL subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects), and Grade E or above in Other Language subjects; OR 4 subjects, including Chinese and English, one of which must be at Grade E or above and the others at Grade C or above in HKCEE/HKDSE; and (iii) good computer skills. Having work experience in laboratory settings will be an advantage.

 

Applicants must submit copies of HKCEE/HKDSE certificates showing that they have fulfilled the language requirements and academic qualifications stated above, otherwise their applications will NOT be considered.

 

Appointment will initially be made on a 1-year contract, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
