Mount Washington Alpine Resort is looking for a Digital Experience Developer — a creative coder and problem-solver who can keep our online ecosystem performing at its peak. If you love clean code, user-friendly design, and building digital tools that help people connect with the mountain, this role is for you.
In this position, you’ll be the mountains go-to web guru, overseeing the front-end guest experience across our website and mobile app while collaborating closely with our Information Technology team to maintain the back-end systems that power essential resort functions. You’ll help ensure our digital spaces are fast, functional, secure, and engaging.
This is a hands-on, highly varied role — one day you’re improving UX/UI or tuning CMS content, the next you're supporting digital campaigns, coordinating data feeds, or collaborating with developers on mobile app improvements. It blends web development with digital strategy, giving you space to be creative, write clean code, and build seamless systems that bring people closer to the mountain. As part of the Marketing & Events department, you’ll shape guest’s online experience while enjoying the perks of an outdoor lifestyle, a fun and collaborative team, and work that genuinely makes an impact.
The Digital Experience Developer must be available to work in person at Mount Washington full-time. If you’re eager to collaborate on a team and be part of a fun place where people come to play, relax, and explore here on Vancouver Island, then let’s talk!
Role Responsibilities:
Digital Experience & Website Management
- Build, test, and optimize the resort’s website to ensure fast, secure, and intuitive guest experiences across all devices.
- Maintain website content, structure, navigation, and branding (e.g., hours, product descriptions, pricing, weather updates).
- Implement and monitor SEO strategies in collaboration with a digital agency; track performance through GA4 and Tag Manager and make data-informed recommendations.
- Develop landing pages, microsites, forms, and digital assets to support marketing campaigns.
- Assist with the design and maintenance of promotions, interactive trail maps and other digital graphics for guest and staff use.
Systems Coordination & Integrations
Note: I.T. owns back-end systems. This role supports coordination and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with I.T. and external partners to maintain key API integrations.
- Support CRM and marketing automation workflows (using software such as Ascent360 or similar), including SMS/email triggers and CASL compliance.
- Provide technical support for online ticketing tools, digital forms, and other systems.
- Perform basic database querying to support reporting, troubleshooting, and content accuracy.
- Assist I.T. with light server-related tasks such as reviewing logs, verifying uptime, or supporting testing during updates.
Mobile App Support
- Work with external developers to update content (products, trail maps, grooming status, etc.) as well as improve UI/UX and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Coordinate data connections (weather, snow reporting, leaderboards, etc.) and content integrations between the app, website, and internal systems.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Marketing & Events team to support digital campaigns, events, and mountain-wide initiatives for seamless online to in-resort guest experiences.
- Collaborate with Information Technology team to maintain back-end systems and connections.
- Contribute to cross-departmental projects around the resort.
- Assist with event activations and complete administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Web Development, Digital Media, or related fields.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in web development, digital marketing or similar environments.
- Demonstrated layout proficiency for clean, intuitive, informational interfaces.
- Understanding of web accessibility and UI/UX principles.
- Demonstrated graphic design abilities using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other software.
- Strong writing/editing skills for digital environments.
- Proficiency with:
- SEO and analytics tools such as Google Analytics 4 and Tag Manager.
- CMS and CRM platforms such as Joomla, Word Press, and Ascent360.
- Front-end languages such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with:
- JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, or Ember.
- Server-side languages such as PHP, CFML, and Go.
- APIs and a familiarity with XML, JSON, and SOAP.
- Relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, MS-SQL, and MongoDB.
- Experience with Resort Management or P.O.S. systems is an asset.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and time sensitive requests.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities to effectively manage projects and collaborate within a diverse team/alongside external partners.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, innovative and a proactive problem solver.
- Due to limited public transportation options, reliable personal transportation to and from the resort is required.
Other Bonus Points:
- Passion for outdoor sport; intermediate to advanced skier or snowboarder and mountain biker.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends. The requirements for this position are 40 hours per week with a variable schedule based on team needs.
Resort Conditions: Working at a Winter Resort means no two days are the same—and that's part of the adventure! You’ll get to experience a variety of unique locations, from cozy lodges to scenic mountain-top venues only accessible by chairlift. Be prepared to embrace the elements; whether it's bluebird skies, fresh snowfall, or the infamous coastal rain. Expect to navigate multi-level lodges, steep stairways, and outdoor areas where the terrain can be sloped, snowy, or slippery, so good footwear is essential, indoors and out. Walking through large, icy parking lots is also part of the daily journey. If you love fresh air, stunning views, and a workplace that keeps you on your toes, this is the spot for you!
