Founded in 1938, the SPCA of Texas is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization that operates one shelter, one spay/neuter clinic, one mobile adoptions vehicle and an animal rescue center, all located in Dallas County, and maintains a team of animal cruelty investigators who rescue hundreds of animals from cruelty each year in North Texas counties. About the Role

This position is supervised by: ACC Supervisors

This position supervises/manages: None

Summary of Essential Job Tasks:
• Care for, feed, monitor, medicate, and perform minor treatment on animals.
• Report observed health or behavior issues to ACC Supervisor/Manager.
• Clean assigned areas on a daily basis.
• Assist prospective clients in the selection of animals for adoption.
• Advise new owners of pet examinations, adoption benefits, policies, and procedures.
• Provide information to the public about SPCA of Texas programs and promote good animal care and responsible pet ownership.
• Keep current inventory of necessary program supplies and report shortages to ACC Supervisor.
• Maintain assigned equipment, supplies and vehicles in safe condition and report any problems or needed repairs to the ACC Supervisor.
• Protect the confidential information on customers and donors.
• Represent the SPCA of Texas by providing excellent customer service and focus.
• Report to work at assigned start time; go to/return from breaks and lunch at assigned times; leave work at assigned quitting time.
• Actively engage with volunteers in such a way that provides support for our volunteers and staff and proactively improves our volunteer program.
• Be an ambassador for the SPCA of Texas, sharing the work and mission with your friends and family and be knowledgeable of the various ways to support our work.
• Additional tasks assigned by ACC Supervisor/Manager.
• The individual performing this job may be required to operate an SPCA of Texas vehicle and perform driver duties as directed if the individual meets the SPCA’s requirements to become a driver. To be eligible, the individual must be 21 years old to meet insurance requirements and must be qualified and licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Texas.

• Emotional and Mental Requirements: the ability to work effectively under stressful conditions. Ability to rapidly and accurately process information.

Applicant Information:
• The individual performing this job may be required to work more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week.


Normally scheduled 5 days per week, 8 hours per day between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
