AFFCO Manawatu is entering peak season and we are looking for experienced Slaughters for our processing facility located in Fielding to help get NZ beef from our backyard to customers plates.

Hours of work vary from 30 – 50 hours per week and applicants must be available to work both day and night shift, and overtime when necessary.  

    Qualifications

    As a skilled Slaughter Worker, you will have had at least 2 years’ experience using knives or working with meat products. While not required, we will give preference to applicants that hold a New Zealand meat processing qualification or a recognised equivalent.

    As a member of our team, you will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

    • Removing viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses.
    • Hygienically dressing carcasses in preparation for primal cuts or further processing and packaging.
    • Operating slaughter floor equipment, such as cutters and flays.
    • Trimming and removing head meat and severing animal heads.
    • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, mesh safety equipment) as provided by the employer.

    Additional Information

    All applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand & a minimum of NCEA Level 2 numeracy & literacy.
