KEY STATISTICS  76,000 job seekers receive assistance from National Able Network each year  Clients received an average 19% average increase in annual wages  85% of clients enrolled in our programs gain employment  On average, our clients gain employment within just 17 weeks. (Nationally, more than half of unemployed job seekers have been looking for work for 52 weeks or longer.)  1,500 Seniors provide more than 800,000 working hours at hundreds of community-based organizations in Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Nebraska each year  We help between 300-400 job seekers each day at our Chicago Workforce Center, the largest and most comprehensive facility in Illinois  500 Military Veterans receive civilian career transition services through our Veterans Forward! programming each year  For every $1 invested in our clients, $5.95 is contributed back into the local economy  Approximately 30% of our students enrolled in IT Career Lab are military veterans (IT Career Lab is GI Bill approved)
About the Role

Description

National Able Network, a dynamic and growing nonprofit agency specializing in the delivery of innovative employment and training programs, has an immediate opening for an experienced full time social service professional to assist with the administration of the Veterans program.  

  

The Business Services Representative (Veterans) is responsible for building new and maintaining current relationships with businesses throughout the program area to identify and fill job openings within the industry. This position provides an instrumental role in assisting veterans to return to workforce and collaborates and partners with positions such as: Business Development, Career Coaches, Office Managers, Quality, Training professionals and others to meet the needs of clients and participants.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintains current and develops new relationships with businesses that prioritize veteran employment, ensuring a full understanding of their objectives, skill-set requirements, and position responsibilities to create meaningful placement opportunities for veterans.
  • Acts as a liaison between National Able Network and employers in the technical industry, assisting with IT & technical job openings in addition to other openings in the area.
  • Consults with employers on job profiles and potential candidates, ensuring that candidates are considered and compared against job requirements and desired qualifications, acting as a resource throughout the process.
  • Identifies, screens, evaluates and presents qualified candidates for the available positions.
  • Documents and tracks open job requisitions received from employers within required National Able Network data system.
  • Pitches subsidized employment programs as needed to employers (OJT, paid internships); writes and manages documentation associated with work subsidy reimbursement.
  • Professionally coaches job seekers on best practices for interviewing, salary negotiation and their overall job search; may participate in job fairs and set up of booth.
  • Keeps abreast of market trends pertaining to new technologies, hiring trends within the multiple industries, certifications, and overall best practices.
  • Obtains and analyzes information about multiple industries, including hiring trends, training, and program feedback.
  • Utilizes various internet sites, social media, personal networks and knowledge-base to effectively manage resources.
  • Responsible for reaching out to businesses, assessing qualifications, technology needs and negotiates opportunities.
  • Responsible for meeting weekly, monthly and annual goals per program requirements.
  • Educates workforce system staff and participants about the industry, including hiring trends and program feedback.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication (oral and writing) and interpersonal skills. 
  • Must be adept at developing rapport, interacting effectively, and when necessary, resolving conflicts with diverse personnel. 
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office  and/or other employment database software systems used in workforce development programs. 
  • Superior problem-solving and organizational skills along with high attention to detail and consistent reliable follow-through.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines and achieve performance metrics.
  • Energetic, adaptable team player who can work collaboratively and autonomously.
  • Must be able to generate own employer leads from approved sources. 
  • Read and interpret documents such as job descriptions and technical requirements. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and utilize social media to promote job openings and candidates.
  • Experienced speaker on relevant topics related to area of expertise and deliver information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in Illinois Workforce Development System (IWDS) database preferred. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3+ years’ experience in technical recruiting required. 
  • Minimum 2-4 years social service program management experience ideally in an employment/training setting.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout surrounding areas.
