As a Maintenance Technician, you are responsible for the inspection, repairs, and maintenance of a variety of hotel systems and equipment. Our Maintenance Technicians are thorough professionals with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work on a team or alone and observe all health and safety guidelines. The goal is to maintain the buildings and common areas in the best possible condition.
This position may require flexible scheduling availability.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Preventative Maintenance Leadership: Drive the hotel’s preventative maintenance (PM) program with consistent completion of guestroom PMs, public-area PMs, kitchen/bar equipment PMs, and all mechanical/electrical system inspections. Document all work to maintain asset longevity and reduce emergency calls.
- Mechanical & Equipment Maintenance: Complete basic to intermediate repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, low-voltage systems, lighting, and in-room technology. Troubleshoot and maintain all back-of-house and guest-facing mechanical systems.
- F&B Equipment Support: Maintain and repair bar equipment, refrigeration units, ice machines, dish machines, CO2 systems, soda lines, beer taps, water filters, and small wares used in the Moxy Bar and Room56.
- Room & Public Area Care: Perform painting, drywall repairs, flooring touch-ups, furniture maintenance, and exterior upkeep to preserve hotel appearance and functionality.
- Emergency Response & Safety: Identify and resolve safety hazards immediately (broken hardware, trip hazards, inoperable locks, fire-safety risks). Escalate critical deficiencies to the Chief Engineer.
- Inventory & Supplies: Check and maintain stock levels for consumables such as filters, bulbs, CO2 tanks, ice machine chemicals, cleaning agents, and PM materials.
- Project Collaboration: Partner with the Chief Engineer and hotel leadership to prioritize and complete room-care projects, capex-driven repairs, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Reporting & Communication: Complete shift reports, PM logs, work order notes, and deficiency lists with accuracy and clarity. Maintain open communication with the engineering team and operations leaders.
- Weather & Building Readiness: Assist with exterior upkeep (debris removal, drains, wind-related cleanup) as needed during adverse weather conditions.

- Ability to complete work orders on a timely basis
- Readily available and approachable for all guests while providing excellent guest service
- Ability and willingness to respond to emergency situations on short notice
- Responsible for knowing Hotel emergency procedures

The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
