Cashiers play a very important role in the organization. Cashiers are often the first and almost always the last staff members our customers interact with. A cashier’s ability to cheerfully, accurately, and quickly complete point of sale transactions differentiates M&D Supply from its competition and leaves a lasting impression. Cashiers are an important source of feedback to management about the customer experience.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Greet/direct every customer entering the store.
- Answer all calls using the company phone script when necessary.
- Ring all customers in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform transactions cheerfully, quickly and accurately.
- Maintain the minimum RLC goal set by the company.
- Maintain minimum Round Up goal set by the company.
- Follow the customer service guidelines to provide maximum customer service levels (consistent score of 95% or better on in-store and phone mystery shops).
- Supervise others and provide on-the-job training.
- Sign customers up for Ace Rewards.
- Restock register area weekly.
- Attend store cashier meeting.
- “On site” attendance must fall within the company standards as outlined in the handbook.
- Any other tasks required as determined by management

Work Requirements
- Must be able to cheerfully and accurately complete point of sale transactions while interacting with the people around you, including customers, co-workers, telephone customers. Must be able to simultaneously monitor entrance / exits points for shrinkage.
- Physical activity includes: Stooping, reaching, standing, walking, keyboarding, grasping, talking, feeling, hearing, and repetitive motion.
- Physical requirements: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Visual acuity requirements: A cashier must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and use of measurement devices. Cashiers are required to have acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and to make general observations of business activity (monitoring entrance / exit points).
- Working conditions: Cashiers are subject to environmental conditions. Cashiers are generally protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- Equipment/Programs Frequently Operated: Must be able to operate cash register, POS Program, Eagle Browser, and open office
