As an Audiologist you will:

  • Perform clinical Audiology services including assessments, diagnoses and treatments for eligible patients with hearing loss and balance disorders.
  • Complete patient reports; educate patients/families; provide counseling and consultation services and present lectures.
  • Participate in patient rounds, risk management and research activities.
  • Provide leadership to new employees, Audiology/Speech-Language Pathology students and ENT residents.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current full registration as an Audiologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret Audiology assessments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hearing loss and associated causes.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply systems theory to practice in Audiology assessments and interventions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of equipment and material used in the assessment and treatment of hearing disorders.
  • Basic knowledge of other health disciplines and their role in healthcare.
  • Basic knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather relevant data and make a multi-dimensional assessment.
  • Broad knowledge of research processes and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities and deal with conflict.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to determine and deal effectively with urgent situations, patients/families/residents.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to effectively use a computerized client care information system.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
