POSITION OVERVIEW

The medical assistant is responsible for performing routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, physician assistants and other health practitioners running smoothly. Providing accurate and complete information to patients so they can fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. The medical assistant builds positive and professional relationships with patients of the practice and with other staff of Colorado Center of Orthopaedic Excellence.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

· Under the direction and supervision of a provider or nurse, assists with performing patient care including drawing up injections, entering orders in the electronic health record, obtaining vitals, and other patient care related tasks. 

· Performs basic clinical skills such as communicating changes in patient conditions. Documents orders, obtains authorizations for outside services, as required.

· Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including recording, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains clean and sterile examination areas. 

· Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filling, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration. 

· Other duties assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

· Minimum Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

· Requires clinical thinking skills

· Decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision

· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES, AND REGRISTRATIONS:

· Basic Life Support

· Registered Medical Assistant

· Certified Medical Assistant
