About the Role

Description

Gateway Rehab Center (GRC) has an excellent opportunity in the Pittsburgh area for an Evaluation Therapist. This position provides the initial evaluation and level of care recommendation, schedules and coordinates treatment admissions, and completes the initial preauthorization process with payers. Travel is required to GRC's outpatient sites, mostly in the Pittsburgh region. 


This position receives frequent supervision, instruction, and training.  The ideal candidate must live within the Pittsburgh, PA region. 

 

One of the perks for this position is that individuals who are interested in working on licensure can receive free supervision and obtain licensure hours while simultaneously working as a GRC Evaluation Therapist.


Responsibilities

  • Completes initial client evaluations and assessments.
  • Diagnoses substances use disorder(s) based on DSM 5 criteria. 
  • Networks with existing and new sources to drive referrals.
  • Recommends appropriate level of care based on ASAM criteria.
  • Completes pre-certification process to authorize services with payers.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Case management skills.
  • Understanding of and ability to assess mental health issues.
  • Public relations and public speaking abilities are required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and organization skills.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Ability to work within a team environment is critical. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
  • Experience in drug and alcohol counseling and assessment.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree 

Additional Requirements

  • Pass PA Criminal Background Check.
  • Obtain PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances.
  • Pass Drug Screen.
  • 2 Step TB Test. 

Work Conditions

  • Travel throughout the Pittsburgh PA region, as required. 
  • Largely favorable working conditions.
  • Position includes local travel and evening work hours.
  • Minimal physical demands.
