Service Technician – Mechanical & Electrical
Location: Hunter Valley Maintenance Centre, Newcastle NSW
UGL’s Manufacturing & Maintenance division is growing rapidly within our locomotive and rolling stock operations in Newcastle. We are seeking experienced Heavy Maintenance Service Technicians with either a Mechanical or Electrical background to join our team.
These are permanent, full-time positions, working day or afternoon shifts on a 9-day fortnight, based at our Hunter Valley Maintenance Centre.
About the role
Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for performing scheduled servicing, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting on locomotives at our Hunter Valley Maintenance facility.
Initial training will be provided at our Hamilton North location for a two-week period.
About You
- Australian-recognised trade certificate Mechanical or Electrical.
- Full Australian work rights
- Proven experience in a maintenance environment – ideally in rolling stock.
- Lathe operation experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Quality-focused with a passion for customer service excellence.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Rail and locomotive experience.
- Forklift licence.
- Overhead crane licence.
