We are seeking a suitably experienced and tertiary qualified engineer to provide leadership and to coordinate the functions of the traffic engineering team. This role requires excellent leadership skills, technical expertise in traffic engineering, and the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of professionals.
What you’ll be doing:
- Undertake, oversee, and provide solutions to matters relating to traffic management and transportation ensuring that applications and customer requests are dealt with, within the shortest possible time.
- Undertake and oversee Local Area Traffic Management and other traffic studies including consultation with individuals, community groups and stakeholders.
- Undertake and oversee traffic data collection and surveys.
- Assisting and motivating staff and the team aimed at improving levels of performance and productivity.
- Coordinating the works program of the team and overseeing the team members engagement in that program.
- Undertake and oversee the design, preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, tender and contract documents for various traffic infrastructure projects.
- Ensure designs are undertaken in a timely manner within the allocated budget and in accordance with current legislation, standards, guidelines, and best practise.
- Develop and maintain traffic infrastructure capital works programs and projects.
- Develop an annual design program which incorporates Council’s Traffic Capital Works Programs and keep track of staff progress.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience, expertise, and knowledge in Traffic Engineering including analysis, evaluation, options, and solution.
- Experience in civil engineering design and assessment of civil engineering design.
- Project management skills in the development, management, and delivery of engineering projects, the traffic programs and capital works program.
- Sound knowledge of relevant acts, regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience in design, review, and assessment of traffic engineering projects including specifications, estimating and tender documents ensuring that timeframes and financial requirements are met.
- Demonstrated experience in managing tertiary qualified staff with well-developed leadership skills including the ability to effectively coordinate the activities of the team and set an environment that motivates and supports staff to achieve high levels of performance by coaching and encouraging
- Ability and sound knowledge of Computer Aided Design software, Project Management software, SIDRA and other relevant traffic engineering software.
- Deliver an excellent standard of customer service and be able to communicate technical ideas to a broad spectrum of stakeholders with varying degrees of engineering knowledge.
- Highly developed skills in report writing and correspondence for a wide range of audiences.
- Proficiency in traffic engineering management software and system.
- Extensive experience in traffic engineering services.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering to be eligible to maintain membership of Engineers Australia.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
