The Product Owner (PO) is responsible for defining, developing, and optimizing digital products of the bank. Working closely with a cross-functional team, the PO leads product discovery, defines clear and actionable requirements, and ensures alignment between business goals and user needs.
The PO serves as a bridge between business and tech – translating strategic goals into delivery-ready requirements. This role is expected to bring clarity to complex problems, manage delivery from scope to testing, and maintain a strong connection to both stakeholder priorities and user outcomes. The ideal candidate is highly accountable, detail oriented, and motivated by the opportunity to build meaningful digital experiences.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Product Ownership
- Lead product discovery and stakeholder engagement to define the product vision, business objectives, and key success metrics for assigned projects
- Act as the day-to-day point of contact for business unit partners to align on scope, clarify requirements, and manage expectations
- Own and manage the product roadmap for the initiative, aligning priorities with strategic direction and business expectations
- Write and maintain epics that clearly define the product’s high-level functionality and captures the end-to-end customer experience
- Develop and maintain a prioritized product backlog, ensuring user stories and acceptance criteria are complete, testable, and accurately reflect the product requirements
- Serve as the voice of the customer and translate customer insights and research into actionable requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive, end-to-end solutions
- Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) activities, confirming deliverables meet intended requirements and align with stakeholder expectations
Product Delivery & Execution
- Ensure requirements are delivered on time and are ready for development at the start of grooming
- Proactively manage blockers, risks, and scope changes to keep delivery timelines intact
- Collaborate closely with the PO Lead, Delivery Manager, and other POs to align dependencies and manage shared priorities
- Participate in project rituals and checkpoints – across both agile and waterfall efforts – to provide input, clarify requirements, and support progress tracking
- Maintain a high standard of quality by verifying the deliverables meet both business intent and technical feasibility
Product Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyze product performance using KPIs, analytics, and feedback loops
- Collaborate with support and operations teams to address issues in production and identify enhancement opportunities
- Participate in research or retrospectives to capture learnings for future product development
- Proactively identify opportunities, together with business unit partners, to enhance the product and deliver sustained value over time
Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Design, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in product ownership or management or digital product development
- Familiarity with Agile practices and working in hybrid delivery environments (agile/waterfall)
- Strong customer-centric mindset and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities with high accountability and attention to detail
- Effective collaborator with the ability to work across functions and delivery models
- Proactive, resourceful, and committed to continuous improvement
Additional Qualities
- Experience working on digital platforms in banking, fintech, large-scale platform initiatives, or as an entrepreneur
- Familiarity with project tools such as Azure and Figma or similar
- Proactive, self-starter with excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- High degree of organization and personal accountability
- A natural curiosity for how things work and a drive to improve products over time
- Enthusiasm for collaborating across teams and learning from peers
