General Function
The purpose of this position is to keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. This position will perform heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. Duties may also include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning debris from sidewalks or parking lots. This position works closely with the Facilities Manager and Property Management staff in all areas of building operations.
Essential Functions
· Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
· Gather and empty trash.
· Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
· Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
· Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
· Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
· Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
· Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
· Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
· Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
· Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
· Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
· Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks.
Qualifications and Competencies
Experience in plumbing repairs and troubleshooting. Experience in electrical repair, installation, and trouble shooting. General building mechanical maintenance experience.
· Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds.
· Ability to climb ladders.
· Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check
· Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to prioritize work and to be a self-starter as well as a motivated team player.
· Working knowledge of hand and power tool operation and safety.
