Description
In collaboration with House staff, volunteers, and YoloCares’ clinical team, the Lead Caregiver plays a vital role in supporting residents throughout their end-of-life journey. This position provides hands-on assistance with personal care, meal service, housekeeping, laundry, behavior management, socialization, and activities, ensuring a dignified and compassionate environment. Additionally, the Lead Caregiver oversees the caregiver team’s scheduling under the direction of the House Manager, ensuring continuity of care and efficient daily operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Train, mentor, and support caregivers, volunteers, and interns in care techniques and best practices.
- Assist residents with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene, and toileting, as directed by the Plan of Care and under the supervision of YoloCares’ clinical staff.
- Provide homemaker services, including cleaning residents' rooms, laundry, meal preparation, and assistance with meals, as needed.
- Ensure residents’ comfort and hygiene by changing clothing and bed linens as required.
- Support residents with mobility, positioning, ambulation, and transfers, utilizing adaptive equipment when necessary.
- Assist with feeding, hydration, and other comfort measures as directed.
- Observe and monitor residents’ physical, emotional, and mental well-being, promptly reporting any changes to the House Manager and clinical team.
- Oversee and coordinate the caregiver team’s scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and continuity of care.
- Assist residents with self-administered medications as directed by clinical staff.
- Promote socialization, activities, and emotional well-being through engagement with residents.
- Maintain documentation of resident care, observations, and significant changes in compliance with YoloCares policies and regulations.
- Follow infection control protocols, including universal precautions such as handwashing and proper use of protective equipment.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations as required.
- Work Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with adults, the elderly, and individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Familiarity with hospice care, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction approaches.
- Experience with scheduling, staffing coordination, and related administrative tasks.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.).
- Strong organizational, time management, and leadership skills.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage, support, and motivate team members.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for documentation and team collaboration.
- Ability to perform effectively under stress and in unexpected situations.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-centered approach.
- Compliance with confidentiality (HIPAA) and mandated reporting policies.
- Ability to meet agency background screening requirements.
- Familiarity with YoloCares' "Hospice Aide Core Values" and industry standards for hospice and palliative care.
PHYSICAL AND OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent walking and standing; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- If driving on YoloCares business, must have a valid California driver’s license and required auto insurance.
- Must pass random drug testing.
- Location: Paid Training will be conducted in Davis, CA. Night Shift will be in South Natomas, CA.
Salary: $49,920 - $54,080/Yearly
