Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the big data analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. We build the Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Integration pillars of Microsoft Fabric.

Within Power BI, this role focuses on user discovery and engagement. Using AI and ML to help users quickly find and discover the content most valuable to them. As part of an agile team, you would work closely together with engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions that span the technical stack. Partnering closely with product management, and supported by UX design, research and technical architect staff, you'd have ability to both work with (& learn) across the product stack.

• Own experiences that span across web clients and server-side components and that integrate with LLM based agents
• Deliver world-class user experiences and planet-scale cloud services to customers in collaboration with engineers, UX designers, and product managers
• Design, code, test, and iterate on features with quality, maintainability, and end to end ownership
• Improve performance, reliability, and security of Power BI features and services.
• Maintain customer focus, considering current and future needs when designing and implementing features.
• Contribute to the growth of the Power BI community internally and externally by sharing knowledge and mentoring peers.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Experience as a technical lead, including mentoring and guiding engineers

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
